April 2015

Another blast of icy weather. I think they save it up for mondays. I expect that some people were inspired by the onset of spring because several of our songs were certainly influenced by floral colours. Kathy and Alan sang "what colour is the sun?" and our new group B.U.G.S entertained us with "yellow is the colour" a first for this group who entertained us with a comb and kazoo accompaniment.

We had a rousing opening from John Taylor who somehow typifies just what the George Formby society is about, entertainment, friendliness talent and sheer dedication.

Magnificent Michael managed to make the buffet, sort out the audio equipment and man the machines whilst at the same time dealing with two energetic. But very well behaved sons and a small baby. No doubt he was worrying about his sick wife at home yet nothing was too much trouble as he multitasked his way through the evening directed by Alan. Alan managed to oversee you know the whole show whilst nursing his tiny grandson.

As usual many thanks to our "old faithfuls you know who you are A poignant moment for us all was when Alan performed little back room in memory of Pat who passed away last year we all have memories of her smiling face and know that somehow her spirit will always be present at the formby meetings"
