May 2015 Meeting

Well done to all our audience who decided that the meeting was vastly preferable to britains got talent as it probably was especially the talent part.

Lovely to welcome back dot and dad after 6 months of looking after a nearly fit but still very frail mum. They have both become George Formby treasures and nobody else can fill their slot.

Michael provided an extra special buffet with 2 cakes to celebrate what would have been George's 111th birthday and although numbers were plentiful we had to call on the goodwill of only a handful of performers. The uke players enjoyed 2 thrashes which helped them to experience playing with more established performers and to learn new formby songs. The rest of the concert varied from wartime memories to irish ballads and those of a more modern genre. Highlight of the evening was the Chenery FAMILY offering with 3 generations from old to young entertained us with banjo boy which they performed with Gusto.

We were joined by the B.U.G.S. For a 2nd visit and had grown in numbers, they invited members to join them on stage for there post interval performances. Eric is slowly gaining confidence in the intricacies of computer tablets having been coached by Josh. Poor Joe was absent with a Tummy Bug. Many illnesses going round but still we survive. All in all a happy and successful evening. Jean

P.S thanks to Karina and Alan for Their help with the buffet.
